Style Your Way To Skinny

It's a little late for me to start the summer diet, so instead of sweating it out I think I'll read this great post from Refinery 29 on how to use styling tips to look slimmer. Enjoy!

5 Genius Ways To Look Slimmer This Summer
By Gina Marinelli

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a wand (or even a gym) to work some hot-for-summer magic. Whether you're a size two or a size 22, you've probably had the experience of test driving a look that's just all wrong — the effect is lumpy, your proportions look distorted, and all in all, it's doing nothing for your killer shape. But, before you rummage through every item in your closet, hear us out: We sourced a bit of help from a few in-the-know stylists to help you streamline your look to perfection.
Can these professionals really turn your look around? Just ask their clients — that is, if you happen to be in touch with Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson, or Katy Perry. These top-notch fashion insiders not only have the magic touch, but they're also dishing on the biggest secrets for looking slimmer in your clothes. Use their words of wisdom to create a sleeker finish ... without ever breaking a sweat.

Stylist: Nicole Chavez

Her client roster: Rachel Bilson, Scarlett Johansson, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Her Secret: "Monochromatic head-to-toe is a chic and timeless way to lengthen any body type. When wearing one shade, there is nothing to draw your eye to. Instead, your eye sees one shape, creating a lean silhouette. It doesn't break up the body."

Stylist: Cher Coulter

Her client roster: Kate Bosworth, Elizabeth Olsen, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Her Secret: "Tight, small prints sometimes can help! Your eye goes to look at the pattern in the print before the overall body."

Presley Skye 'May' Print Silk Dress, $148, available at Nordstrom.

Stylist: June Ambrose

Her client roster: Zoe Saldana, Garcelle Beauvais, Kim Cattrall, Alicia Keys, and she's also the star of the VH1 reality show Styled By June.

Her Secret: "If you're square shape — I’m very square shape in the waist; I don’t have that curve, that hourglass, BeyoncĂ©-kind-of cinching waist — the peplum is probably the best antidote for that. You want something that’s going to create the illusion of small and wide. The way the peplum is cut is that it kicks out at the hip, giving you just what you need to make the waist look smaller ... then it creates this illusion of [a] smaller waist and hips."

Peter Jensen Screen Print Cotton Dress With Peplum, $322, available at Opening Ceremony.

Stylist: Johnny Wujek

His client roster: Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj.

His Secret: "Spanx. It's no secret!"

SPANX Full Slip - Slimplicity Open Bust, $88, available at Bloomingdales.

Stylist: Shirley Kurata

Her client roster: Zooey Deschanel, Miranda July, as well as styling the Rodarte runway presentations.

Her Secret: "I always find that anything that accentuates the waist (like a '50s-cut dress that is fitted in the bust and waist, but full at the hips) tends to be more flattering on fuller figures .... And, skirt lengths shouldn't go past the knees."

ASOS CURVE Exclusive Dress In Pretty Floral, $37.28, available at ASOS.
